CUSTOM BUILT PLAYHOUSE RAISES FUNDS FOR MAHTOMEDI AREA EDUCATION FOUNDATION
Friends and members of the Mahtomedi Area Education Foundation (MAEF) were in for a treat when they arrived at the organization’s Sixth Annual Spring Gala at the Prom Center in Oakdale, Minnesota the evening of March 28, 2009.
A custom playhouse, built and donated by Jason Myrlie, President of J. Carsten Homes, won their hearts as it awaited their bids in the event’s live auction. The playhouse, valued at $3500, sold in the event’s live auction for $3,750. Proceeds from the Annual Gala support the MAEF’s mission to: “foster the interest and advancement of public education through community involvement, endowed support, and the promotion of effective teaching and learning for our [Mahtomedi area] students and community.”
Donor J. Carsten Homes builds and remodels fine homes in the NE metro from Mahtomedi to Stillwater. Additional labor and/or materials for the playhouse were donated by JL Schwieters Building Supply -- framing lumber, windows, roofing materials, and forklift to lift and place the 3500-lb. playhouse for the event; Krech Exteriors -- James Hardie Siding and Shakes, and siding labor; Sherwin Williams of Maplewood -- paint; Baxleys Painting -- painting labor; Kathy Hanson Interiors - paint color selection and carpet; Maintenance Made Simple -- roofing labor; Rider Home Improvements -- trailer; Superior Service Solutions -- indoor storage of playhouse and trailer.
